Southern Lights
The Southern Lights is an annual fundraising event for the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The event consists of a drive through the park with displays of holiday lights, local entertainers, crafts people and, of course, Bluegrass Railroad Club model trains. This event is our club's largest public display. We assemble five modular and sectional layouts in Z, N, HO, O and G scales for display during the six week operation of the lights and with the dedication of our members, we are able to run trains every night The Southern Lights is open. With approximately 2000 square feet of display space available, we are able to provide a wealth of trains for the public and dedicated model railroaders to view. The Southern Lights began in 1993 and the Club has been fortunate to be a part of it from the beginning. The Lights and our model train display have become a holiday tradition for many families in Kentucky.
